Job Description:
The Senior Oracle DBA will be responsible for supporting Global Database
and Data Warehouse production and non-production environments. Must be able to prioritize and manage issues of
varying complexity and criticality. Provide assistance with initial
problem diagnosis and be able to resolve 75% of issues before escalating to the
next tier level of support. Correctly decides when to escalate to more
senior personnel during priority 1 or 2 issues that fall outside of their
experience level. Will follow work plans and understand associated
documentation. Understands the need for security; knows to ask for help
with respect to security related issues or requests. Performs daily
operational checks, reviews event management alerts and e-mails, and assists
with audits of inventory and processes. Performs server maintenance
during approved windows, which are after the normal business day and on
weekends. Supports On-Call operations to provide 24x7x365 support to
maintain customer OLAs and SLAs.
Required Skills:
- Manage and Maintain Oracle RAC and ExaData w/ minimal downtime.
- Ability to troubleshoot data warehouse and OLTP performance problems - strong Oracle optimizer and SQL tuning skills
- Database architecture and administration
- Clustering technologies from different vendors
- Thorough understanding of the Oracle database features
- Backup and Recovery, RMAN, knowledge of various restore and recovery scenarios.
- Help and manage disaster recovery tests and Create and support Disaster Recovery plans
- Performance Tuning, Parallel query, Query tuning
- Oracle Networking
- Partitioning
- Database Security
- 11g/12c OEM and Grid Control
- Strong UNIX & Linux skills (Scripting, VI, Cronjobs, AWK and SED),
- Operating systems, Storage expertise / System Administration of ExaData Servers
- Design knowledge of design, development, test and maintenance of relational databases
- Knowledgeable of business modeling, logical data modeling and user views of the data.
- Monitors database performance to improve performance.
- Managing Kernel Parameters, Partitioning and File systems
- Familiar with relational database audit and compliance procedures.
- Self-learner focusing of new technologies, troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent team player with strong interpersonal and documentation skills.
- Ability to develop excellent written documentation, such as test plans, run books, load testing and operations guides
