Role:
  • The Open Source Software Control and Management project is a new initiative at JPMorgan Chase with a primary focus of providing controls and security around the use of open source in the firm. These controls include inventory management, identification and enforcement of policies for open source libraries and components used in all of our applications. 
  • The firm has chosen a suite of products from a vendor called Black Duck to implement the project. It will be used to scan the existing code base of source code within the firm and incrementally continue to search for vulnerabilities. 
  • As an Application Engineer and Integration Specialist for JPMC’s Black Duck team, the primary role will be to install, configure and deploy the Black software in testing and production environments to enable scanning of all applications in our portfolio.
Responsibilities:
  • Configure and deploy Black Duck into production
  • Design, develop and maintain helper tools and scripts in Perl, KSH and/or Python
  • Ensure solid implementation of the product by performing rigorous integration testing of the entire application
  • Help to create efficiency in current deploy process and automating manual interactions
  • Understand change procedures and being able to liaison between DEV, QA and PROD teams
  • Engage in application performance tuning
  • Augment Black Duck functionality by developing extensions and plugins as appropriate
  • Onboard projects to scan with Black Duck
  • Assist in identifying and validating scan results from Black Duck
  • Become SME in the tool
  • Configure and run BIRT reports
  • Create interfaces with other services  – Medium to long term
  • This position requires an individual with excellent skills integrating large and complex systems
  • The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of application risks principles and remediation
Required Skills:
  • 3+ years’ experience with 2 or more of these technologies Java, J2EE, HTML, JSP, Servlets, CSS, JavaScript, XML (DOM, SAX), Web Services, JMS 
  • Experience with databases
  • Experience with Unix, Linux, and Windows operating systems 
  • Experience with Open Source Frameworks and other tools including Spring, Struts, Hibernate, Log4J/Commons logging, Maven, Ant 
  • Knowledge of SVN or any other source code control systems 
  • Experience in using Eclipse or other IDEs 
  • A team player with excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • Experience across the development lifecycle with large-scale, highly available applications
  • Ability to quickly develop subject matter expertise and working knowledge of new business processes - i.e., an ability to understand 'the business' in short order
  • Demonstrated communication skills both written and verbal are required 
  • Must be familiar with structured project life cycle disciplines
